Ghosts of Halloween Pasts

Happy Halloween Ladies and Gents
I have always been a lover of Halloween and yes, I have always been that girl that spends a lot of time thinking about what I am going to dress up as. I had it all planned out this year, I kid you not. But then I woke up super late this morning. No time to even look at myself in the mirror and contemplate what I was going to do with the mess my hair was. I threw on a beanie, clothes, and ran out the door.
Ladies and Gents I give you the costume this year.
Now I didn’t do the headband, because I always get horrible headaches from those skinny hair elastic type headbands. So I just opt out of doing the headband with this outfit.
Who cares anyways right, and if you do… shut it.
When I read this quote below I laughed so hard, because I have to admit; I have been there.
"In the regular world, Halloween is when children dress up in costumes and beg for candy. In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it." Mean Girls.
And after spending hours searching for evidence, I could only find one picture. Yeah,, for a girl who takes a million photos. How in the world do I not have a million photos of my Halloween costumes.?
This is the one and only photo I can find.

Chicken Stir Fry

Clean Eating

As I have strived to become the best me, I made the decision to start eating clean. Now, don't get me wrong. I have made a few horrible eating choices, but you can't change your entire eating habits all in one week. You can just do your best and give it your all. My weakness I have found out is 1) Lunch Time and 2) Dinner Out. Since I go to work early, I don't leave myself much time in the morning to get a lunch prepped and ready to go. So, I have been planning out meals that I will take with me.
Second, I go out to dinner with friends a lot. I usually eat whatever sounds good and enjoy a drink with it. I need to start making healthier choices while I am out to dinner. I won't stop eating out, just cause I am changing my eating habits. I am just going to become smarter about the choices I make. So, wish me luck in the week to come with meal prep.

Chicken Stir Fry

I have been in search of yummy, easy, and healthy recipes a lot lately.
Well I found this one. Simple, Easy, and Quick.

Ingredients
Brown Rice – Cook as Directed
4 cups Water
2/3 cup Soy Sauce
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1 tablespoon Corn Starch
1 tablespoon Minced Ginger
1 tablespoon Minced Garlic
1/4 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
3 Skinless, Boneless Chicken Breast Halves, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
1 Green Bell Pepper, cut into matchsticks
1 8oz can of Water Chestnuts, drained
1 head Broccoli, broken into florets
1 cup Sliced Carrots
1 Onion, cut into chunks

Directions

Cook the Rice as instructed on Package.

Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, and corn starch in a small bowl; stir until smooth. Mix ginger, garlic, and red pepper into sauce; coat chicken with marinade and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.

Heat 1 tablespoon sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir bell pepper, water chestnuts, broccoli, carrots, and onion until just tender, about 5 minutes. Remove vegetables from skillet and keep warm.

Remove chicken from marinade, reserving liquid. Heat 1 tablespoon sesame oil in skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir chicken until slightly pink on the inside, about 2 minutes per side; return vegetables and reserved marinade to skillet. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until chicken is longer pink in the middle and vegetables are tender, 5 to 7 minutes. Serve over rice.
A few Healthy Tips:
Most Stir Fry Recipes call for White Rice - Use Brown Rice or Shirataki Noodles
Don't overdue it on the oil. Small Amounts.
Make veggies the star of your dish - Bell Peppers, Squash, Carrots, Celery, Broccoli, Cauliflower, or whatever sounds good.
Don't buy ready made sauce from the store. It may be quick and easy, but homemade sauces are much better for you. If you don't like the one about try this Spicy Ginger Sauce.
Green Tea is a great drink to go along with Stir Fry, but the boost to your metabolism is an added bonus. Plus hey, it cleans your palate so you taste all the flavors.
I hope you enjoy.

Weekend Shenanigans

I don’t know if my extreme tiredness this morning is from a lack of sleep last night, the migraine I have had for a week straight, or the fact that I hit snooze for 45 minutes this morning. All I know; I am exhausted and I really wish I had a Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha right about now. All complaining aside, it is Monday and I need to get my butt in gear to get some work done.
Anywayss,, lets catch up Monday with some Weekend Shenanigans
-Friday-
Kati and I had plans to drive to Cedar and attend The Scream. Which is a massive Halloween party thrown at Southern Utah University. When it came down to it though, neither of us wanted to be in a room where people were on top of each other and pushing around. So we opted out and hung out with some cool boys at George’s. More low key and our kind of fun!

-Saturday-
I took my brother Levi and his friend Ashton to Mesquite for the first SkyDiving experience. I absolutely loved my new outfit that day! Click Here for the Outfit Detail.
-Sunday-
I am getting on the Sons of Anarchy band wagon. I started watching the episodes over the weekend and now I am in love. Season 1 Episode 9 is where I currently am.. 5 more season to go till I am up and current with the show.
I also started planning my meal prep for this next week. Looks like Chicken, Turkey, Brown Rice, Sweet Potatoes, Green Beans, and Salad will be on the forecast for this next week.
Hope you all have a fabulous Monday..!
Much Love, Kenzie.

Eye Candy.

Happy Thursday Everyone.
I hope you are all enjoying your day,, I haven't had much time to work on this post today. Late post is better than no post;; right.? So its time for a little celebrity gossip.
topic: 50 Shades of Grey.
Just a shy 12 days after Charlie Hunnam stepped down from playing the role of Christian Grey, they have found someone else to step into the shoes and fulfill our fantasies. Ladies,, contain yourself. Gah, he is gorgeous! Jamie Dornan.

Now tell me he doesn’t fit your fantasy of Mr. Christian Grey,, to perfection.
"Holy cow—he's so young." Young.
"So young—and attractive, very attractive. He's tall, dressed in a fine gray suit, white shirt, and black tie with unruly dark copper-colored hair and intense, bright gray eyes that regard me shrewdly." So young – and attractive, very attractive. Tall. Tousled Copper Hair. Bright Gray Eyes.
"He smiles, revealing perfect white teeth. I stop breathing. He really is beautiful. No one should be this good-looking." Perfectly white teeth.
"His voice is warm, possibly amused, but it's difficult to tell from his impassive expression. He looks mildly interested but above all, polite." Warm and Polite.
Okay girls, let’s get ourselves together. "He really is very, very good-looking. It's unnerving." Jesus, Girl, hold it together.. He is just on a movie screen in front of you. With his shirt off; doing naughty, naughty things.
Haha,, okay. Seriously though, isn’t he gorgeous? I think he fits the image of what I have in my mind for Mr. Christian Grey, to perfection.
 your welcome.

random wednesday

Hello Lovelies,
I can’t believe it has been an entire week since my last post. I am sorry for being MIA from the blog. I got really sick Wednesday night with the flu and it took forever to get that darn bug out of my system. Not a fun thing. Anyways,, finally feeling better. Yippee!
-one-
Halloween is T-Minus  8 days away.. Gah,, What are you going to be? Luckily for me, I have found all the pieces to my costume and now it’s time to whip out the good ol’ sewing machine. Craft time will be in session till the Halloween Party this weekend, cause who doesn’t celebrate Halloween all month long.. Eek! Love Halloween.!

-two-
Today was the third day in a row that I have continually slept through my alarm and had to run out the door to work. Ever since this whole flu thing, I can’t seem to get well rested. I am simply exhausted when I wake up. Any suggestions,, anyone.?

-three-
My fall wardrobe is constantly getting more and more pieces for a grunge style. I am completely obsessed with oversized sweaters and t-shirts, leggings and skinnys, and the wonderful beanie.
-four-
REVENGE. I am obsessed. LOVE IT! If you haven’t watched it, catch up on the seasons via Netflix and then watch the new shows on Sunday night. I love this show and have since it came out. Gah! Plus,, the boys are drool worthy. Ladies, you must agree with me.
much love, kenzie.

Words of Wisdom

Happy Hump Day Ladies and Gents.
Soo,, for Words of Wisdom today,
I found this quote via Pinterest and really like it.
I love that it hit what I believe right on the head.
The person you are now, is because of the person you have been. So if you don't like the person standing before you, change it now. Be the person whom you see yourself in the future becoming.
much love, kenzie.

Migraines = Beast Comes Out.

For as long as I can remember, I have had migraines. The older I get the worse and more intense they have become. But this last week I had one and it hit me, the things people say or do when I have a migraine drive me nuts! So,, I thought why not compile a list and share.

1-      I get headaches too: ooh honey, a headache, good for you. Can you handle that headache when its 10X worse and even the sound of your voice right now wants to make me punch you in the face. Yeah, didn’t think so.

2-      Question after question, all I hear is blah, blah, blah: sweetie, all I hear is rambling coming out of your mouth, and at this point I would advise you to shut your trap, turn around and walk away, before something bad happens to you.

3-      What makes it worse: You obviously have never had one before, so anything from the sound of your voice to the birds chirping outside, sunlight, music, computers, phones,, it all just needs to disappear so I can crawl into a hole and die. Thank you.

4-      I have a migraine before or at least I think I have: honey let me tell you, you would know.

5-      The moment when you finally find darkness,, and the idiot who just opened the door is asking for a death wish. Yep, you heard me. Open the door, I dare you.

6-      Have you tried eating something, drinking, medicine: yes, actually I have. I am to nausea to eat, what the hell is water or pop going to do, and medicine isn’t going to help either. It didn’t help hours ago, why would it help now.. Ahhhh!
7-      The normally sweet and innocent people turn into annoying people with their suggestion after suggestion, just trying to help: I’m sorry I can’t help but want to roll my eyes and put my head on my desk right now. It’s not you, it’s me, well it is kind of you, but it’s mostly my head.

Finally Friday.. Horray!

Hello Lovelies!
Can you believe that Friday is already upon us,, I feel like it crept up on me this week. Only cause I still have a million and one things left to do this week. Well anyways,, its time to link up for some five on Friday.
THE GOOD LIFE BLOG
-one- While I was watching the kids on Wednesday night, dinner had to be made. Thank goodness I came across this delicious looking receipe on Lauren’s blog & I’m telling you; simple, easy, delicious, and kid approved!

-two- It cooled down a few 10 or so degrees here in Southern Utah this past week and I was able to wear a sweater and a scarf. I sure love fall, and sweaters, and scarfs, and boots!

-three- I am going to become a baking queen tonight, since I have a few things to make in order to get ready for the shower tomorrow. Now that almost all my projects are done, it’s time to make the goodies.
-four- My favorite products this week have to be the BB Straight BlowDry Cream that I bought and my Hot Tools Curling Wand. The blow dry cream just makes my hair straight and shiny without much effort, which gets an A+ in my book. & I have always been obsessed with my curling wand, who doesn’t like an iron that cuts the curling time of your hair in half. Plus the tapered rod makes for such beautiful curls!

-five- This lady is well, how do I put this in a nice way,, stupid. I about died when I heard this for the first time. Wow, some people just have no common sense.

Happiness

In the past year or so, give or take a few months. I have learned so much about myself; I am so beyond grateful for the chance to really understand myself and who I am. I made a promise to myself that I would always make sure that I am my number one priority. I think it is important to make sure that we take care of ourselves and our happiness. I believe that happiness comes from within and it should not be depended on by someone else. I believe whole heartedly that in order for life to be good, we need to take care of ourselves inside and out. When our mental, emotion, and physical health is all combined balanced and equalized, it creates a better life for us to live in. I think it is so important! I can’t say it enough. Now that I have started rambling like an old lady in church, I want to make a little update on me.
I am so happy with life right now, honestly I am. I am happy with the person I have become. I believe myself to be a strong, self-motivated, independent, spontaneous, adventurous, full of laughter and smile kind of person. I wouldn’t be this person, if I hadn’t made the decision to be happy. Take control of my life and make every single second the very best it possibly could be. I am excited for the future and what it has in store for me.
“Look closely at the present you are constructing, It should look like the future you are dreaming.”
– Alice Walker
I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday. Enjoy it.
We half way to Friday,, yippeeee!
Much love, Kenzie.

.Clean and Healthy Life.

.Healthy Living.
.Clean Food. Good Exercise. Healthy Life.

Of course, I am a girl and I don’t know one girl who doesn’t struggle with their personal self image. Honestly though, this isn’t what this is all about for me. I really want to get healthy and be in the best possibly health and shape for my body. I want to make sure that what goes into my body is healthy for me and isn’t causing problems in the long run. So I have been really digging into this healthy living and if I want to be successful with it, I know I can’t just wave a magic wand and do it over night. So this is my personal plan and steps that I think will help me improve my health , inside and out.!
-simplify- I am going to stop worrying about calories and portion size, but be more worried about color, variety, and freshness. I know that portion size is important, but moderation is key in that area.
-time- I am going to start slow and take a few things out of my daily eating, like junk food. No more snacking on random stuff because it is at my hands. I am going to start eating healthier options for the in between meals. Nuts, fruits, and veggies.
-healthy plate- Harvard School of Public Health made a diagram that helps best understand this healthy eating plate; less of the unhealthy such as refined sugars and saturated fats, and more of the healthy such as fruits, veggies, and protein. Olive/Canola Oil is replacement for butter. I should be drinking more water, tea, and coffee with little or no sugar. I should be eating whole grains and healthy protein. Fruits and Veggies; the more the better and potatoes do not count.
-night eating- I am going to avoid eating late at night and eat when my body is most active. Studies have shown that if you give yourself a 14-16 hour break from dinner to breakfast it helps regulate your digestive system so that your body will regulate and help maintain your weight.
-smaller meals- I am already someone who eats smaller more frequent meals, but I am going to make it a priority to eat a healthy breakfast and then eat small healthy snacks between larger more sustainable meals.
I think these give things will help me get a kick start into healthy living and I think they are great goals that will help me get into a more healthy life style. If you want more information from the website that has helped me out a lot, check it out.
